Out East Spoken Word

Hanbury Hall sits in an amazing location. A piece of history along the namesake street between landmarks of east London, Spitalfields with its bustling market stalls and the vibrant and diverse Brick Lane, a walk round the block that activates all your senses.

In spite of the spectacular change that the area has experienced over the years, it isn’t too difficult to imagine the Victorian smog, horse carts and top hats. A little research unveils the rich history of the area and Hanbury Hall's role in holding host to Charles Dickens reading essays and the Matchstick girls gathering to protest. Characters with a voice, a story to tell, change makers, determined to make their mark.

This is our spoken word, written by Joel and performed by Isaiah. An ode to the streets surrounding our Hall, Spitalfields, Brick Lane and Hanbury Street. Filmed on a hot summer day in August, bars spilled into the streets, bucket hats and sunglasses.

It really is special to belong in the Spitalfields neighbourhood.
